NIDRA

Nidra means "to bring forth a state of inexistence", or more simply, "sleep" in Sanskrit.

A sequence of programmed processes blends and transforms videos drawn from a large original archive: natural elements, captures from holy sites, recordings carrying particular symbolic power.

The different stages of the work connect with steps in meditative disciplines: the recognition of physical reality as electrical impulses interpreted by the senses, the progressive dissolution of ego, ecstasy, union with the ultimate reality.

The installation is accompanied by original ambient compositions. The work is generative, it constantly produces new combinations of video and sound in real-time.

The space in which Nidra is installed becomes a place outside of time: a territory where the viewer can remain for hours, finding a contemplative experience that is always transforming.

Nidra is a technological dream.
